  • Play as your Mii on Tony Hawk’s Ride (JP)
    • Mii’s are nintendo-cute avatars for the Wii
    • Remember the cool promise that Wii made when they published Mii’s. Every game was gonna have them.
    • Well that never didn’t quite go to plan,  very few 3rd party games support the Mii. If  you like Mii’s though, Tony Hawk’s “Ride” on the Wii will have them skating
    • It also has Mii versions of the Pro skaters that you can play… (kinda Cool)
  • Redbox DVD rental is testing Game rentals in two very small markets  (JP)
    • Looks like it will be rolled out very soon to most if not all markets… pricing should be somewhere along the lines of $2 first night $1 each additional night
    • Should be announced very soon. they will be renting 360, PS3, PS2, and Wii games
    • Numbers for the first month in these two tiny markets were HUGE!!! so they are going to have a huge push to get this rolled out everywhere.
  • AT&T re-thinks their VOIP policy, allows Skype and Fring Full Access (SM)
    • Apple relegated Voice-over-IP apps to wi-fi earlier this year at the behest of AT&T (Skype, FRING)
    • Other similar AT&T apps that were non-Iphone were not limited
    • FCC launched an investigation due to a behest by Internet advocacy group Free Press
    • AT&T has since switched their tune and will allow these apps on the wildly popular IPhone
    • Maybe it has something to do with google announcing a partnership with verizon for their voice app (which still doesn’t work on IPhone)
  • SyFy’s Re-imagined Alice to air starting on Dec 6th (JP)

    • Modern day spin on Lewis Carroll’s clasic with an Amazing cast, and written/directed by Nick Willing(He did SciFi 2007 Tin Man Which was soooo cool)
    • Cast includes Kathy Bates, Tim Curry, Harry Dean Stanton and more….
    • (Steven) Mmmm. Kathy Bates, what a hottie…. I personally loved tinman so hopefully he will do better than the “American McGee’s Alice”
    • (Cole) I was sooo excited for Tin Man but couldn’t make it through the first hour- hopefully Alice will be better!
  • Sony Sued for Firmware 3.0 Hardware damages (SM)
    • The class action lawsuit claims that 1000′s of PS3 owners had their systems Blu-Ray drive when Firmware 3.0 was pushed down
    • blu-ray’s played for about 10 minutes then freeze the system and no other drive would then play after that
    • Sony has since sent out a “fix” that was to “improve stability but others are claim that is hasn’t helped
    • How much are repairs? Sony is charging $150 a pop for the downed systems
  • Palm at it again after getting their hand smacked by USB Forum (JP)

    • a little while back we talked about how Palm was using a hack to make iTunes think the Pre was an iPhone
      • and they went to the USB implementers forum to try to get them to Make Apple play nice with other devices, saying Apple was using the USB keys to unfairly lock other devices out…
      • The Forum sided with Apple, Apple released an update for iTunes that broke the synching of the Palm again
      • a few days ago Palm once again released an update to WebOS that implements a new version of the Hack to allow it to Synch with iTunes…
        • The game of cat and mouse continues
        • (Steven) If you’re sick of the back and forth, you may want to consider the free syncing alternative iTunes Agent, which doesn’t violate any of Apple’s rules and works fine with the Palm Pre.
          • iTunes Agent is an open-source utility that syncs iTunes with mass storage devices
